Some are plain; others are carved and painted with fishes, flowers or her distinctive "doodle" or some other motif.       

     Many of the freeform bowls are more decorative than utilitarian because of their shape. However, they are oven and dishwasher safe and are perfect sitting on a dinner table with sauce or condiments, on a coffee table with finger food, nuts or candies, or on a shelf or table as a centerpiece.

    If you would like Laurie to create a custom piece -- a size or color, a particular type of fish or other carving, contact Laurie to see what's possible. Colors and size, to your specifications, will nonetheless be approximate as no piece is exactly alike nor can a piece be exactly duplicated. Every firing is different because that's the nature of clay and fire!       

     A 25 percent, nonrefundable down payment will be required for each special commission. As it is a time-consuming process, expect delivery no sooner than six weeks from order date.

This lovely little fish tray is oven and dishwasher safe. It measures about 8"x6 1/4"x1" deep. Made of red ear-
thenware, the exterior and bottom are not glazed. Instead, they have been stone polished to highlight the natural clay. Item #51

A lovely little goldfish platter that's as at home on a dresser as it is in the oven! Perfect for one or two small servings of baked fish! Made of white earthenware, it is about 7"x5"x1" deep. Item #52

The photo doesn't show the lovely colors of this "herb" trivet. Real sage, dill, basil and thyme were pressed into moist white earthenware before it was fired. The remaining herb etchings were then painted in different shades of green. The entire piece was then glazed in a transparent spearmint. Oven and dishwasher safe. Appropriate for use as a trivet or for placement in a display stand. 8" round. Item #53

This small spoon rest is a good match for the herb trivet. Fresh rosemary was pressed into the moist white earthenware play. The interior of piece was glazed with a semi-transparent spring green. Oven and dishwasher safe, it measures about 3"x4". Item #54

Red clay spoonrest is oven and dishwasher safe. Interior is etched in Laurie's classic doodle pattern and covered with a clear glaze. Exterior has been stone polished. 3 1/2"x4". Item #55

It's a soap dish carved with a reproduction of a Modigliani nude! Glazed in a lovely seafoam green over white earthenware clay, it measures about 6 1/2"x5" and is about 1 3/4" tall. Item #56

This miniature dish is just 4" across and about 3/7" deep. The red clay has been deeply carved, allowing the blue-white transparent glaze to pool in the indentions. Item #57

This beautiful little box is oven and dishwasher safe. Not quite square, this deeply carved
piece measures about 3" x 3" x 2x". Hand made of red earthenware clay, it's glazed in a cobalt blue with sky blue accents. Try serving melted butter or sour cream in it! Item #60
